Biography
Michel Genet has a MA in economics and land-use management as well as in microfinance. First researcher at the University of Leuven for one year, he worked for 5 years in a telecom company, before he decided to change orientation. This especially became clear after having travelled for a year around the world with his partner. Michel became head of Crédal, a social and microfinance for non profit organisations. 8 years later he was appointed executive director of Greenpeace Belgium and Chair of Greenpeace Europe. In 2015, he started as head of Etopia, an Ecology Think Tank. Over the years, Michel’s understanding of the environment has evolved, leading him to fully grasp the interdependencies of life. In fact, for Michel, Mother Nature is a sanctum of peace and inner wellbeing.

Michel Genet heeft een MA in economie, bodembeheer en ook in micro-financiën. Hij was een jaar lang onderzoeker aan de Universiteit van Leuven, werkte dan 5 jaar in een telecombedrijf, tot hij besliste om van richting te veranderen. Die beslissing kwam vooral tot stand na een jaarlange wereldreis met zijn partner. Michel werd daarna het hoofd van Crédal, een sociale en microfinanciële coöperatie voor ngo´s. 8 jaar later werd hij aangesteld als uitvoerend bestuurder bij Greenpeace België en voorzitter van Greenpeace Europa. In 2015 zette hij zijn carrière verder als hoofd van Etopia, een ecologische denktank. Doorheen de jaren is zijn inzicht in het milieu zo gegroeid, dat hij nu volledig de interdependenties van het leven kan interpreteren. Voor Michel is Moeder Natuur eigenlijk een heiligdom van innerlijke vrede en welzijn.

Un voyage d’un an en compagnie de sa compagne a été le déclic. Michel est alors devenu directeur chez Crédal, une association spécialisée en micro-crédits pour ONG. Huit ans plus tard, il est nommé directeur exécutif chez Greenpeace Belgium et président de Greenpeace Europe. En 2015, il prend la direction d’Etopia, un think tank écologique. Au fil des années, la notion de l’environnement a sensiblement changé aux yeux de Michel, ce qui l’amène à une compréhension plus approfondie du caractère interdépendant des choses et phénomènes. Michel considère Mère Nature comme un sanctuaire de paix et de bien-être intérieur.
